Love Brighton – Half Way Through!

Its time for a brief update on what the Lord has been doing through the team this week.

So what’s been happening?
Sunday was a rest day with the opportunity for some to visit our friends at Calvary Church in the morning. We then all gathered for our 4pm Grace Church Brighton worship service and enjoyed a meal afterwards. When one new member to the church saw the size of our gathering he said “So this is what it will be like when we grow!” May the Lord make it so 🙂

On Monday and Tuesday we followed the plan of gathering for prayer and training in the morning before heading out into the harvest in the afternoon in 4 teams.

There was a Street Preaching station with a Literature Table on New Road. Short gospel messages were interspersed with testimonies from the team members. Lots of conversations took place, flyers and literature given away.

Mark from Texas was one of those who shared his story
Others like our friend Tony from Guildford gave short gospel messages aiming to engage folk in conversation

Another team set up a Literature Table along the Lewes Road. This area is particularly on our heart as a church and we’re praying for open doors for the gospel.
Others went ‘Door to Door’ in the area asking residents to take part in a Survey of Beliefs with the offer of a Gospel of Mark and information about Grace Church and the 321 Course.

The Literature Table on the Lewes Road was a good way to connect with passers by

Finally another team headed to The Level – a local park – to do Surveys.

In the evenings so far, the team has helped out with the Calvary Church Youth at another local park and ran an evening for the Grace Church RAW youth group on the Moulsecoomb estate.

What have we found so far?
– The arrival of a larger team to help has given lots of encouragement to us.
– LOTS of people have asked for Bibles this week. We ran out of them on Tuesday.
– There has been quite an openness from people at The Level to do the survey and some have wanted to talk much longer.
– We’ve already had some people contact the church to find out more about the Christian faith. The lesson from last year was to make sure we follow folk up well.

What’s next?
On Wednesday to Friday our afternoon focus turns to The Level, where our American friends will be running a Sports Camp. Please pray for good weather and opportunities to connect with families
